Last March 21, 2015, another long awaited event was held at Sales Bar Tekanplor: The release of Escape Plan Juliet’s first EP entitled “On My Own” and the premiere of their music video for their song “We Write Downfalls”. For such an occasion, the place was decorated with the band’s own touch with the use of pinwheels and crates.The band sat at the back of the room selling copies of their EP and their merch. By the time the event had started the place was packed with people.
Up next was Friendship Lagoon, a group from Tagum, with songs that were ambient yet energetic at the same time. Thea and the Chieftains came in with an upbeat set of songs that would make any person in the crowd tap their feet along with the beat. The last guest band to perform that night, but definitely not the least, was The Sound of Go. These guys are well known in the local scene for their prowess in pop-punk with a mix of easycore. As they played their songs, people gathered in the center to mosh, head bang, or just to enjoy the view of the band playing with so much energy.
The gig was done, and it was a success. The crowd couldn’t help but ask for more. It was indeed a night of good music. Escape Plan Juliet mentioned a new song that’s still a work in progress, so I guess we have another launch to look forward to. As for now, their EP launch shows that Davao’s music scene is still alive and surely, there will be more to come. Hopefully, there will be more releases from Escape Plan Juliet in the future.
